I’m a mom to an almost five-year-old nonspeaking autistic boy. Raising him has had its challenges, but he has brought so much joy and passion into our lives. I know I will give him the best quality of life until I take my last breath.

Living facilities exist for disabled adults, of course — but anyone with a disabled child will tell you the horror stories they’ve heard, or worse, experienced, at these places. Neglect and abuse are not uncommon, sadly. Staff are frequently underpaid and overworked, and simply don’t come with the experience, patience and compassion the job requires.

We want to give families another option.
